PRACTICUMS AND INTERNSHIPS


The YMCA of the Palouse offers internship and practicum opportunities throughout the year.
Internships and practicums are a valuable means of attaining hands-on experiences
within Y programs and learning about the non-profit community.
 
 
FALL AND SPRING PRACTICUM OPPORTUNITIES

Practicum hours can be fulfilled with any YMCA of the Palouse program. Generally for 90 hours and above, students volunteer for our Elementary After School programs for at least 3 days/week. 45 hours can be fulfilled through the Elementary After School program or the Special Olympics program. 10 hours and under are best fulfilled through our Young Athletes program. INTERNSHIPS
 
** The YMCA of the Palouse is accepting applications for a Full Time Intern!

1) Office Internship: The Office Internship is an unpaid opportunity, working in the YMCA of the Palouse office. Interns will get to know the Y and its programs and services, being exposed to the operations of a non-profit organization. In this position you will be expected to accomplish a variety of administrative duties, including but not limited to:
  • Answering phone calls and greeting people who come to the office
  • Representing the Y at community events
  • Assisting the CEO, Director of Programs, and Director of Community Outreach
  • You also may be asked to file, make copies, organize, research, and problem-solve depending on the needs of the team.


Expectations: All interns will be expected to demonstrate professionalism and dress appropriately for an office environment. Scheduling is flexible, but you should arrive on time and stay for your full hours. You will be expected to keep communication with the CEO by answering emails promptly and discussing any issues that may arise.

While handling your expectations, you must also represent the 4 core values of the Y (caring, honesty, respect, responsibility). Proficiency with computers is a must and experience using Google Drive is desirable. You are responsible for tracking your own volunteer hours, which will be verified by the CEO as needed for any school requirements. This position is open to both students and community members.
