As Pullman Schools gears up to start a hybrid in-person instruction schedule on January 4th, the YMCA of the Palouse will be offering Academic Day Camp during scheduled distance learning days for students in grades K - 5.  For those parents looking for full day child care options with adademic support during those days, the Y offers a structured day camp program focused on helping students with their online learning objectives.

The Academic Camp is located at Gladish Community Center in Pullman running from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.  The base cost to register is $200 per five day week or $135 for a three day week.  Financial assistance is available to those who qualify based on household size, income, and circumstances.

Also being offered at Gladish starting January 4th is after school care during scheduled in-person school days.  Bus transportation is provided by the Pullman School District with routes dedicated from each of the four elementary schools to Gladish.  The program will run from the end of the day to 5:30 PM with a base cost of $20 per day to also include financial assistance to those who qualify. 

Both programs will continue to follow Washington State Department of Health guidelines for COVID-19 to minimize the risk for our staff and youth participants.  This includes properly worn manditory face coverings for both staff and participants.

About the 2021 Spring Semester Academic Camp
Our 2021 Spring Semester Academic Camp starts on Janury 4th and will be available until schools return to full 5 day a week in-person instruction. This weekly full day program will follow necessary social distancing and health guidelines (to include mandatory face coverings) for the safety of our staff and program participants.  Youth must be between the ages of 5 entering Kindergarten to 12 to register.  We will be working closely with area school to provide an academic structured program to help with online learning requirements and school assignments as well as a diverse program to include STEM learning, art, physical activities, and more! This program is offered from 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM daily, at Gladish Community Center. We will be following and adapting to the hybrid model of the Pullman School District.  Information on the schedule can be found on the registration form (link below).
Due to the current Covid-19 situation, we are limiting enrollment to a max of 45 youth to include 15 in the K-1 grade group, 15 in the 2-3 grade group, and 15 in the 4-5 grade group.  We will be following health and safety guidelines as outlined in our 2021 Spring Semester Academic Camp Parent Handbook (Currently being developed). 
Also available is the option for early drop/late pick-up from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM for $5 per day.

About the After School Program during the 2021 Spring Semester

Also starting on January 4th at Gladish is our after school care program to take place during scheduled in-person days for students attending school.  Bus transportation will be provided by the Pullman School District with routes dedicated from each of the four elementary schools to Gladish.  The program runs from the end of the school day to 5:30PM with a base cost of $20 per day to also include financial assistance for those who qualify. The after school program will continue to operate at Gladish once schools go back to full 5 days per week in-person instruction until such time we are allowed to return to onsite programing at each elementary school.

Our staff consists of a Site Director and and Program Assistants who not only possess the knowledge but also the experience in working with children from all backgrounds and walks of life. Staff members are required to have a cleared background check, and CPR/First Aid training to ensure your child is in the best care possible. Our caring staff works hard to ensure children are not only in a safe and caring environment, but they work hard to keep them connected and supported in trying new things as well as demonstrating a caring nature and using positive reinforcement to build your child up. Most importantly, our staff help children learn how to be their best selves. Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA)
Our programs align with standards initiated by YMCA of the USA for Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA), which focuses on healthy food options, physical activities, limits screen time and offers information to families about healthy lifestyle choices. Snack is provided by the Y and served in the morning and afternoon.  Please note, the Pullman School District will provide free lunch for all registered in the program who opts for it.

Financial Assistance
At the Y we believe every child, regardless of financial restraints, deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. So, the Y also offers Financial Assistance for our programs. Even if you don't qualify for DSHS or state subsidies, you may still qualify for our Financial Assistance package! Please see our Financial Assistance page for more information.

Annual Family Membership Fee
When you sign your child up for one of our programs, you're becoming part of something much deeper than a pool and more active than any gym. Your Annual Family Membership fees are applicable for the entire family across all Y programs and that membership is good for one calendar year. The Annual Family Membership fees are $50.
