ABOUT THE YMCA OF THE PALOUSE

The YMCA of the Palouse is a 501 (c)(3) organization and has a 12-member Board of Trustees and a variety of community and youth programs. Chartered at Washington State University on November 20, 1894, the YMCA has started many campus initiatives using student volunteer leaders (ie. housing, new student orientation, community service) now provided by the institution.

The YMCA of the Palouse was formerly the YMCA at WSU. In the spring of 2015, the Board of Trustees voted to change the name from the YMCA at WSU to the YMCA of the Palouse, and shift the organization's identity from a campus Y to a community Y. This change signified that the YMCA of the Palouse serves not only the Pullman community, but also the surrounding area. Its mission is to serve as a resource for the entire Palouse community. The YMCA of the Palouse still maintains a close relationship with WSU, utilizing university resources for collaborations and providing service opportunities for WSU students.

We are a non-facility YMCA, which means we operate 100% out in the community. Our administrative offices are located at 105 NE Spring Street in Pullman. We offer volunteer opportunities and perform outreach in the community as part of our commitment to social responsibility.

The YMCA of the Palouse currently operates Elementary After School programs in Pullman’s four elementary schools, and offers internships, practicums, and service learning opportunities for university students. The Y also offers annual Spring Break Day Camp and Summer Day Camp corresponding with the Pullman School District breaks.

The Y: We're for Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.

The Y. So Much More.
